Announcements
Keep your team informed with a central feed for updates, alerts, and news. Post announcements, pin important ones, and let your team react and comment.
What are announcements?
Announcements are organization-wide posts visible to all team members (admins, agents, and end users within your FyneDesk workspace). They give your team a single place to share updates without relying on external tools like email chains or chat groups.
Use announcements for things like system outages, policy updates, project milestones, shift reminders, or anything your whole team needs to see.
How to create an announcement
Navigate to Announcements in the sidebar and click New Announcement. Fill in the following:
- 1 Title. A clear headline for the announcement.
- 2 Description. The full content of your announcement.
- 3 Category. Choose one of the built-in categories to help your team understand the type of announcement at a glance.
- 4 Action date (optional). If the announcement is tied to a specific date (e.g., a maintenance window or deadline), you can set it here.
Announcement categories
Every announcement is assigned one of these categories:
- Alert — urgent issues or warnings that need immediate attention
- Maintenance — scheduled downtime, system updates, or infrastructure work
- Project — project updates, milestones, or new initiatives
- Update — general product or process changes
- General — anything that does not fit the other categories
You can filter the announcement feed by category to find specific types of posts.
Pinning announcements
Admins can pin important announcements to the top of the feed. Pinned announcements always appear first, regardless of when they were posted. This is useful for ongoing issues, active policies, or anything your team should see every time they visit the Announcements page.
To pin or unpin an announcement, open it and use the pin toggle. Only admins can pin and unpin announcements.
Reactions
Team members can react to announcements with one of four quick reactions:
- ❤️ Like
- 🎉 Celebrate
- 👍 Useful
- 👀 Watching
Each person can add one reaction per announcement. Clicking the same reaction again removes it. Clicking a different reaction switches to the new one. Reaction counts are visible on each announcement so you can gauge how the team is responding.
Comments
Every announcement has a comment section where team members can discuss the post. Click an announcement to expand it and see existing comments or add your own.
Comments are displayed in chronological order. You can delete your own comments. Admins can delete any comment.
Editing and deleting announcements
The person who created an announcement can edit or delete it. Admins can also edit or delete any announcement, regardless of who created it. Editing updates the announcement in place; there is no edit history.
Who can post announcements?
Admins and agents can create announcements. End users within the workspace can view announcements, react, and comment, but they cannot create new ones.
Frequently asked questions
Can external contacts or customers see announcements?
No. Announcements are internal only. They are visible to team members who are logged into the FyneDesk app. They do not appear on the Client Portal.
Can I pin more than one announcement?
Yes. You can pin as many announcements as you need. All pinned announcements appear at the top of the feed, sorted by their original post date.
Do announcements send email notifications?
No. Announcements are shown in the app only. Team members see them when they visit the Announcements page. There are no email or push notifications for new announcements.
Can I create custom announcement categories?
The five categories (Alert, Maintenance, Project, Update, General) are built in and cannot be customized. Use the one that best fits your post.
Is there a limit on how many announcements I can post?
There is no limit on the number of announcements.
Can I schedule an announcement to be posted later?
Announcements are posted immediately when you submit them. The optional action date field is for informational purposes (e.g., noting when a maintenance window will occur) and does not control when the announcement is published.
